How do I clean my face properly?
Keeping your skin clean can prevent spots and keep your skin healthy.
Choose a gentle face wash without harsh chemicals and acids.
With clean hands, apply a small amount of face wash to the palms of your hands. With a small amount of water start to lather the product in your hands. Gently massage this wash into the skin using light circular motions for approx 1 minute. Add more water if you need to.
If you are particularly dirty, have taken part in a sweaty activity or are wearing makeup, use the face wash twice.
Remember to wash your face every evening, don't forget!
How can I prevent spots and have clear skin?
It's important to remember that being spot-free all the time is not a realistic goal. You will always have some spots at some point during your lifetime. But you can reduce the chances of getting them.
Here are my top tips.
A healthy diet is important. Try to eat a range of foods and not too much junk, processed or sugary foods.
Clean your skin every morning and night to remove bacteria from the skin.
Do not touch your skin with dirty hands.
Use clean towels on your skin and change your pillow case regularly.
Drink plenty of water.
Try to aim for 8 hours of sleep per night.
Do not pick or squeeze your spots. If you do, you will spread bacteria, increase redness, increase the healing time and potentially cause scarring.
Use a spot treatment on new spots to help your spots heal faster.
